INT6064 - Teaching Module Details (Individual Assessment)

Course intended Learning Objectives (CILOs)

At the end of this assessment, you will be able to:

● CILO1: Elaborate on the relevant concepts of computational thinking and its role in STEM.

● CILO2: Select and apply appropriate pedagogies in developing school students’ coding knowledge and skills to address authentic problems within the scope of STEM;

● CILO3: Develop school students’ computational thinking through coding within the context of STEM education; and

● CILO4: Link coding and computational thinking with other STEM disciplines to design integrated learning activities in school curricular contexts.

Task:

You need to design a prototype of an interactive teaching module based on a given scenario (3 hours class, online learning). You need to set up learning objectives at the beginning of the teaching module. The teaching module should demonstrate appropriate pedagogies in developing school students’ computational thinking skills in solving a complex real-world problem.

Scenario:

There are two scenarios for you to choose from to conceptualize and visualize the teaching module.

Autonomous self-driving cars: Since Tesla releases Tesla Version 7.0 software, enabling Autopilot as a feature for Model S drivers in 2015, the idea of autonomous self-driving cars is more popularized than ever. As a science teacher in a K-12 school, you will have to develop an e-learning teaching module to enlighten students in understanding the fundamental working mechanisms of autonomous self-driving cars. At the end of the lesson, students need to come up with a simplified design scheme for an autonomous self-driving car.

Smart e-commerce logistic system: Post 2015 Singles Day event, Alibaba took only 7 days for all the delivery partners to deliver 240 million parcels versus 16 days for 2014 with no crashes of its partners’ logistics warehouses reported in the news. The Smart e-commerce logistic system shows its prominence in providing a highly efficient and better shopping experience for customers. As an information technology teacher in a K-12 school, you will have to develop an e-learning teaching module to enlighten students in understanding the main procedures and involved parties of smart logistical solutions. At the end of the lesson, students need to come up with a simplified distribution scheme for an e-commerce company.

Basic Teaching Module Contents:

1. Title: Give a title to your course.

2. Prerequisite: Define the course’s pre-requisite or if the learners need to have any prior knowledge.

3. One to three Learning Objectives: Write clear and measurable learning objectives.

4. Target Audience: Identify your target audience. (i.e., which grade of KI2 students)

5. Course Description: Give a brief description of the course

6. Course assessment: List the formative and summative assessments that will show your students’ learning

7. Course Topics and Subtopics: Develop the topics and subtopics you want to cover.

You need to submit:

1. Figma sharing link of the teaching module.

2. Deadline: 23:59 pm, 4 May (Sunday).

3. Late submission will deduct 30% marks.

Note:

You are expected to develop the actual contents of the course (e.g., lecture content about how to decomposite the problem, and class activities). If copyrighted videos are needed, please include proper citations at the corner of the page or at the end of the module.
