Module Learning Outcomes:
This assignment is designed to assess the following module learning outcomes. Your submission will be marked using the Grading Criteria given in the section below.
1. Identify and critically evaluate the challenges and opportunities facing global practitioners and managers.
2. Appraise and critically assess cultural differences and similarities across borders as well as differences within countries.
3. Critically analyse how cultural differences can affect the management of foreign operations and managerial responses.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of key management practices in the context of international business.
5. Apply the theoretical concepts learnt on the Module to the practice of International Business.
6. Develop negotiation, facilitation, communication, leadership and project
management skills for enabling organisational cooperation and collaboration.
Assignment:
Group Role Play assignment:
• You will be allocated into groups of students.
• Each group will be paired with another group.
• You will need to work with your own team members and the members of the paired group to complete this task.
The Task:
Managers of international business constantly face various challenges and opportunities due to the complex nature of the international business context.
Group A (client): Identify an internationally significant event or phenomenon in the contemporary international business context and develop 8-minute presentation to illustrate its impact on an industry or an organisation of your choice.
Group B (consultants): Based on the issues identified by group A, develop 8-minute presentation on how global managers in the chosen industry/organisation can best address the challenges and/or take advantage from any opportunities associated with the event or phenomenon under focus.
Instructions:
• Groups A & B must work together to agree on an industry/organisation and a real world internationally significant event or phenomenon in the contemporary international business environment to be the focus of the presentation.
• Work with members of your group to develop your part of the final presentation.
• Communicate regularly with the other group to ensure consistency in logic between the two parts of the presentation.
• Group A and Group B presentations should be combined and submitted in a single file.
• Group A and Group B submissions will be marked as one submission and both groups will receive the same mark.
• All group members should equally contribute to the task of the assessment.
• All teams must upload the presentation slides through the Canvas page by tbc.
• Cite and reference your sources using Harvard referencing style.
• Further instructions and support will be provided during the teaching sessions.
